EVENT 001: WELCOME WEEK

MOVE-IN DAY

Welcome to Cadelle, cuddlers! The city is — for the most part, at least — very happy with the first wave of volunteers who have chosen to spend time here! To help everyone get settled a little easier, Mayor Drake and her team have put together a series of helpful booths, each staffed by friendly citizen volunteers who are more than ready to answer any questions characters may have.

First things first: visitors will need to visit City Hall to officially enroll as a Cadelle citizen. Once complete, they'll receive their Welcome Packet, which will include all of the most important items for settling in. Characters will find keys to their apartment and associated mail box, their housing assignment, and their pre-activated CuddleCard, ready to go. In addition, the volunteer coordinators have included a newly printed map of the city, as well as contact information for various city-run organizations, just in case!

▸ Due to the influx of energy from all of the new visitors, the city’s computer systems have been experiencing some "minor hiccups". While this is nothing to be concerned about, characters may find themselves mildly inconvenienced — they may have received keys that don’t work in their door, or been issued someone else's room assignment unknowingly!

▸ If they've arrived during regular business hours, characters are, of course, able to visit the maintenance office on the first floor of each building for help switching out their mismatched keys or determining their correct assignment. However, getting settled after hours will require a little extra creative problem solving — like asking a new friend if sharing a bed for the night seems reasonable, sleeping on the couches in the public lounges downstairs, or maybe even roughing it for the night outdoors. (Of course, there's always the frowned-upon methods of breaking and entering... not that you heard it from us!)

▸ As with any move-in day, there’s bound to be lots to see and do. Characters may need help carrying their things, or even just help finding their way around. If they're lucky enough to find their room without problem, they may not be so lucky in their assignment. They may find themselves living underneath someone who's got to be part elephant (who stomps that much at 6 AM?!) or just above someone who insists on burning every batch of popcorn they make! Get out there, meet the neighbors, and see what this city has to offer!

CITY SCAVENGER HUNT

A few days after the big move-in weekend, characters will find an unread message on their CuddlePhone, encouraging them to check out the CuddleTalk network for a very special message from two very special guests. When they do, they’ll find a cute (but admittedly very cheesy) video message from Cadelle’s volunteer coordinators, Flora and Cornelius. The video highlights a few of the most popular destinations in the city — Blaze Pizza, for example, the home of the ninety-second wood-fired pizza, or Dinah’s, where you can enjoy a literal bucket of fries perfect for sharing.

At the end of the video, a link will come up for characters to click if they are so inclined. They’ll be directed to a sign-up page for a city-wide scavenger hunt, with a grand prize promised for the first team to complete the challenge.

Want to participate?

▸ Characters will be able to sign up for the scavenger hunt either on their own or with a friend. (The prizes remain the same regardless of the size of the team, so if your character wants all the money for themselves, they'll either want to race it alone or pick a very generous teammate!)

▸ Among the many delicious dining destinations around Cadelle, characters will discover three venues that the volunteer coordinators have tapped as their current favorites. Somewhere in those three venues, characters will find a beautiful framed photo of Flora and Cornelius.

▸ When characters find the photo, they'll be instructed to take their best selfie, being sure to capture themselves, the framed snapshot, and their teammate (if they chose to bring one along) in the shot.

▸ The first group to send in all three selfies will win the grand prizeone month's stipend worth of extra CuddleBucks! However, all competitors who complete the challenge will be rewarded with a token of appreciationone week's stipend worth of CuddleBucks, just for playing along!

▸ While characters explore the city, they just might find some "bonus" surprises along the way. Keep your eyes peeled!

Helpful Hint: To find the secret locations (and any hidden bonuses along the way), check out our CITY DIRECTORY for all the amazing destinations your character can explore! Feel free to sort by category on the left, and click your way through your first big adventure in the big city!

Mod Note: For fairness, the "grand prize" winner will be determined by RNG in a drawing on August 4 at 3:00 PM. If your character would like to be eligible to win the grand prize, please be sure to leave us a comment so we can include them in the drawing!

IT'S OPENING NIGHT MOVE-IN DAY!
( kara's move-in process is thankfully fairly straightforward. she gets her housing assignment and her keys early in the morning, before the crowds begin to form in front of city hall, and finding her way to her assigned room — the very top of alpha building, in a room that faces east towards the rising sun, promised to be flooded with light from morning until sunset — proves to be easy enough with the help of a provided map.

that's about all that's easy, though. you'd think supergirl could manage something as simple as unlocking a new door with a new key, but no. you'd be quite wrong. her assignment is correct, but her sense of navigation in this new place is not. east could easily be west, right? or north? maybe even south? in any case, whatever door kara's currently trying her hardest to open, jamming the key into the lock with enough force that the metal cracks in the lock, effectively preventing herself and anyone else from entering that particular room... well, it's not hers.

oops? )

YOU HAD ME AT FOOD.
( anyone who knows kara already knows she spent her first waking hours in the city doing two very important things: one, locating and subsequently squeezing the air out of the lungs of anyone she considers a friend, and (more importantly) two, locating and sampling (devouring) the various food venues within the boundaries of the city.

therefore, she's an excellent competitor who just so happens to be gifted with the blessings of superspeed, be it on land or by air, and one who also just so happens to be pretty generous when it comes to sharing the winnings. kara's not going to choose among her friends, though. that's like choosing a favorite type of food. it can't be done. they'll have to choose for themselves.

instead, she'll send out a text message — to everyone she knows — that reads:

i'm starting at dinah's for fries and a milkshake
first person to meet me there gets to split the prize when we win the scavenger hunt :)

and, of course, the milkshake is chocolate. what other options are there? )

a. open.
( There's a girl with bright orange hair sitting on the floor outside the maintenance office. She's cross-legged, eyes closed, curls of black peeking from the collar of her shirt and down her arms. She's either been here five minutes, or five hours, depending on the weariness of her sigh. When she opens her eyes, they're bright and green and wry, a smile curving her mouth. )

Let me guess. ( One hand lifts up and she twirls the keys there, like she's a gunslinger in the wild west. ) You got the wrong ones too. ( She's not actually all that upset. She just wants to get in so she can go back out again, find a place that sells the stuff she'll need to spend the night. While she doesn't mind slumming it, she really wants to be able to change. Plus she has to go and requisition a stele, apparently. Someone told her. )

I thought about checking the other doors, but there are a lot and what if I walk in on some poor person in the buff. ( Socialising. She's so good at it. ) I mean, not that I do that. Or have done that. It was just a thought. ( Great, now she sounds like a pervert. )

b. open.
( Cadelle is nicer than she thought. The apartment buildings are clean and much brighter than some of the ones in New York, but she's mostly only seen weird underground bunkers and then various eateries. She hasn't actually gone to explore much. Rectifying that seemed like her first port of call, especially if she'll be here for a while. Clary's wandering aimlessly, a few bags looped over her wrist, when she spots the sign for the Museum of Art. If it wasn't clear she was a dork before, it certainly is now because she practically skips up the steps to peer at the signs on the board.

Already she's itching to go inside, but part of her wants to hold off too. She needs to find a supply store, buy herself a new sketchbook, some pencils, download enough music on her CuddlePhone. The wait would be worth it, she could decompress properly that way.

( Idly, she wonders if Jace would come with. She also wonders if it's silly that she would like to sit in comfortable silence with him. Though would the artwork compare, if he were at her side? -- No, no more of that. )

Thoughts wandering dangerously, Clary turns abruptly and nearly barrels into the person behind her, accidentally thwacking them with her packages.
) Oh, my God! I'm so sorry. ( Shadowhunter skills, what are they? )

c. closed / kimberly.
( She's bored. That's her excuse. She's bored and definitely not desperately lonely. It's 100% the first feeling that has her escaping her apartment minutes after reading the scavenger information, bag already slung over her shoulder as she makes her way to Kimberly's apartment, knuckles rapping against the door. Clary tries not to fidget, really she does. She's grace and poise and all of those things that she'd use to describe Izzy. Actually, she should probably be trying to embody Izzy instead. But no, when the door finally opens, Clary's tugging on her ponytail enough that she's sure it's frizzing. )

Hi.

( She probably should have called ahead, or maybe even texted. But here she is anyway. Waving her phone at Kimberly, she grins in what she hopes is not a deranged way. )

Food based scavenger hunt. Cash prize. Thought we could pool together our stomachs and our resources and win this thing. You in?

d. open.
( The Axe & Oxen isn't really her style. She's slower, if she fills herself on potatoes. Less likely to run away from demons. That's what she tells herself. But what she's also telling herself is that by not being her thing, it's definitely going to be one of the clues. She knows how this works.

She sits down in a chair to anticipate her future heaviness, craning her neck to see where her partner's gone off to before flipping open the menu. Maybe appetizers. Then they can hit up more places. But lo and behold, the photo is carefully tucked into the inside. Clary lets out a whoop of victory that startles the other diners, plucking it free before heading to the bar. She's waiting for the tender to notice her, so she doesn't mind beaming at the person beside her.
)

So, how many have you found?

( You better be taking part, snoozers are losers. )

I. MOVE-IN DAY.
[ the key to leonard's apartment isn't actually the key to his apartment. which he isn't really surprised by, honestly. everything about this situation has smacked of "too good to be true" so it's a little reassuring to see things going at least a bit wrong.

he doesn't make a big deal out of it, instead hanging out in the communal areas of gamma building during the day, watching everyone else and seeing how others who are having trouble react. and how maintenance responds to them. he doesn't go to get his own keys fixed. it's not like he needs them, anyway.

what he does need, as the day starts to turn to evening, is some food. ]
Hey. [ he pitches his voice loud enough to be heard from where he's very weirdly slouching over some furniture. ] You had any of the grub here yet? How is it?

II. MOVE-IN DAY 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO.
[ he gets his dinner eventually. and a few beers because that's what one does when one dies and then instead of seeing the pearly gates ends up some place where cuddling and acts of good will grants wishes. it's distinctly possible he's a little tipsy. and he may or may not be feeling like he needs to do something more like himself after that whole self-sacrificing thing.

which is why he decides he's gonna break into his own apartment from the outside instead of just picking his own lock like he'd been planning on at first. it's a terrible idea. and, because it's just how his life as been going the past couple days, leonard ends up slipping through the window into a dark apartment that is very much not his own.

and smacking his shin against a coffee table that was hiding in the shadows. ]
Ow! Mother--

III. OOT AND ABOOT.
[ while he doesn't participate in the scavenger hunt, leonard does spend the first week or so exploring every inch of the city. at one point or another he can be found just about any place that doesn't solely have to do with the great outdoors or community service. (though he does--very, very, very briefly--stop in at the animal shelter.) there's a handful of places that he frequents multiple times and it's pretty clear they may end up usual hangouts for him.

the first is, unsurprisingly, criminales. it's his favorite kind of dive bar, and the fact that his partner's the one who owns it just makes it even better. it's quite possibly the only place in this city that immediately feels safe to leonard. that probably says something about him, but it's not anything he's going to be thinking about much.

other places you're likely to find him are the green room where he's just as likely to be hustling someone as playing fair, the cadelle museum of art where he is absolutely casing the place as much as he's appreciating the art, (old habits die hard) and, perhaps a bit surprisingly to some, the ice castle where he seems to enjoy watching people skate as much as he does doing it himself. and if he lets himself get coaxed into giving a kid hockey tips, well. doing good's just part of this whole deal, right? ]

IV. WILDCARD.

GAMMA BUILDING, FLOOR 2 - MOVE IN DAY - open.
[ getting through the welcome booths had been a fairly painless experience. tina didn't have many belongings, other than a few bags of clothes, and the staff had been incredibly welcoming. she knew what she was getting into when she got in line, which helped move the whole process along. her keys were handed over, as well as the map and her card, and she was pointed in the right direction with a wave and a smile.

she was nervous, sure. being in such a new place without much of a central point of reference left her a bit wide eyed and unsure, but she shook her head and kept her feet moving. she could explore in a bit, try and introduce herself to a few more people around her place, maybe search out the closest book store...

tina's key worked just fine (thankfully - she won't know that for some they don't until a bit later) and she gets inside her room fairly quickly. considering she didn't bring too much with her except the essentials, she's pretty free not long after being left in her room. that also means she ends up stepping back out into the hall fairly soon after, looking off down the hall to see if she could see any of her new floor-mates.

at the first sound of footsteps, she will jump a bit, stepping a bit further out into the hall. ]
Hello? Do you need any help? [ she feels a bit like a new student at ilvermorny on their first day, but she tries to push that subtle nervousness away. ]

SCAVENGER HUNT - closed to credence(&percival graves)
[ tina hadn't really had big plans for the day when the message reached her phone - nothing more than continuing her exploration of the city, maybe getting lunch with credence. the second she reads it, though, she can't quite hide the smile that breaks out across her face - immediately sending credence a message about completeing the scavenger hunt with her.

just over an hour later she's standing out in front of the first place highlighted in the video - Blaze Pizza - bouncing in the balls of her feet a bit excitedly. she's a fairly competitive person, at her core, and the chance to have some kind of hunt through the city has her in a good mood. she and credence had agreed to meet here, just to check if that had been a clue, before starting off on the rest of the city.

the idea of a 'selfie' was still something she was trying to understand, but she figured they would have time to work it out. ]

a. open.
( Daisy is in trouble. Mostly because she chose to spend her day harassing the locals in various bars for information, hustling them at pool so they had to hand over their hard earned cash with quiet, and not so quiet, grumbling. When she finally decided to head off to the apartment building listed in her paperwork, everywhere was closed, locked up, quiet. What few stragglers were around ended up being people already settled in.

Her key doesn't work.

For a long moment she just tries jimmying it, in case there's something wrong with the lock, in case it's just stuck or stiff or anything that means she doesn't have the wrong key. When that doesn't work, Daisy lets out a long curse, pressing her forehead to the wood of the door. Her hand lifts, like she's half thinking of quaking the door open, before it drops again to hang by her side.
)

Motherfucker.

( She turns when she hears footsteps behind her, unabashed despite everything. With a wry smile and a shrug, Daisy lets out a half laugh. ) Please tell me you're best buddies with a locksmith. Because if not I am totally fucked. ( She's slept in a van before. She can do this. She just wants to be dramatic. )

b. open.
( Good Vibrations tempts her by just the name. Daisy catches it on her run - after her trip to the now open maintenance office to sort out her key situation - and she can't help but slow down long enough to peer inside. At first glance it doesn't look like much, in fact she is tricked into thinking it's a fancy hotel or a spa or something vanilla, and ultimately bland. A thought pulls at her though, a curiosity she's not very good at controlling, and without thinking too much about it, she's pushing inside. Her gaze instinctively goes to the chandelier, gut twisting even now she's several years away from being Skye. She doesn't belong here. She'll mess up the veneer just by breathing wrong.

And then her eyes drop to the shiny display cases full of a rainbow of sex toys and her grin is vicious and relieved.
) Huh. Guess this is my kind of place after all.

( She approaches the nearest, still smirking as she eyes up the various items on offer. While Daisy prefers a helping hand, she's not against a good solo mission. She doesn't look up when the door opens again, instead stoops to inspect something that is quite frankly massive and monstrous. Feet pause at her eyeline and she grins upwards, flirtatious and wicked. ) The Hulk ain't got nothing on this.

( Join her in this amazing adventure, friend. )

c. open.
( Daisy eventually slips onto a stool at The Colonel's, exhausted but fairly pleased with her day. She may or may not have shopping bags that come from her new favourite store at her feet, may or may not be tempted into a talk about the logo and therefore the things she's acquired. But for now she just leans her elbows on the bartop, scanning the various taps and labels before her.

Hunter would know which one to choose, she thinks with both a pang of sadness and a ridiculous rush of something fond. Instead of dwelling though, Daisy just turns to whoever's beside her, strikes up a conversation with ease.
)

So, what's good?

a. move in day
[Moving into a new place always came with a certain degree of stress, especially when moving in involved being in a completely different world from where you considered home. It could also be pretty stressful if the reason you were moving in to begin with was because you very recently well, died. Or at least came close enough to it that the magical wish-granting fairies of Cadelle invited you along to their city of positive energy.

Clark was trying his best not to dwell on it, at least. He had a new place to get into, a place that he was pretty eager to make comfortable too, so he'd gotten up bright and early in order to get down to city hall before making liberal use of his CuddleCard to buy a few bits and pieces, most notably a coffee machine.

He checked and double-checked his housing assignment on the packet they gave him before entering the building and climbing the flight of stairs, or was that two or three flights, before locating his door... or was that someone else's door, who knew what East facing was anyway. Regardless of which door he ended up at, he was awkwardly trying to balance the coffee machine and a couple bags in one arm while jiggling the keys into the lock. It was a stubborn old thing but that was no match for this intrepid reporter and he'd dealt with many stubborn locks before. Except maybe he was trying a little too hard when he shoulders the door, knocking it completely off its hinges where it can land, the wood lying on the floor at the same level as the jaw of the person's room he just broke into.
]

b. stuffed
[Clark wasn't necessarily participating in the Scavenger Hunt in the more normal sense, after the dust had settled with regards to the relocation of Cadelle he was mostly scavenging for good places to eat rather than clues. More than that he was trying to make a brilliant mental record of what the place had available. He'd already done a good old fashioned Birds Eye View of the place but it wasn't quite the same as treading the streets of this fantastic city.

After a long morning of walking the reporter finds himself in Stuffed which was both an apt name for the restaurant and also the condition of Clark's stomach after just half the sandwich. It was so good though and he'd been raised right, Clark Kent wasn't a wasteful man. At that perfect moment someone he vaguely recognised from around the city, a fellow wish-maker, walked into the cafe and the Kryptonian found himself waving them over and gesturing to his plate like some psychopathic grandmother who just found out you haven't eaten yet today.
] Hey... we've met before, right? This is going to sound kind of weird but, would you like half a sandwich? Its good, I promise. [Please eat his sandwich, do him this favour, he can't handle more bread. And next time he comes back here with this freshly achieved coupon, he's bringing a friend.]

c. the colonel's
[Clark definitely wasn't what you could call a barhound, but he was someone that liked to keep busy and more importantly, he was used to having a schedule that ate up every spare minute of his time. Be it through working on an article or out saving the world as Superman- after all, day and night meant very little when you could traverse timezones in the blink of an eye. It meant that as he settled into life in Cadelle he found himself seeking every opportunity to leave the apartment, for now at least.

Tonight was one such night that he did go out, finding himself at a nice enough bar with a varied collection of beer. He was sat up at the bar when someone approached, settling themselves on the bar stool beside him. Instantly Clark turned to them with a warm smile.
] Can I buy you a beer? [It turns out he was ready to offer a lot of things recently. First sandwiches, now beverages. You'd almost think he was just positively ecstatic to be alive and making the most of every little extra second he was earning here in Cadelle.]

SCAVENGER HUNT aka QUITTING FOR WINNERS @ Dinah's

[ Ah, what the hell. She's not technically here under duress. She's already taking a chance on this place, might as well keep the gamble going, and besides, she used to really like scavenger hunts as a kid. This is the bare minimum of justification she has to go through in order to participate in just about anything, so convincing herself of it isn't any extra burden.

Private investigator is, after all, a grown-up scavenger hunter, when it comes down to brass tacks. Case closed.

It's a decently entertaining solo venture, on which she gets her bearings and eyes people in passing. Pizza place is cute but not really her deal, and too many newbies like her are coming and going through it. With no one slowing her down, Jess blasts through her first and second venues and ends up at Dinah's. There she finds the Stepford photo and the instructions on how to proceed, at which she scoffs derisively. Okay, fuck scavenger hunts actually.

Jess crumples up The Perfect Couple and asks the staff what they've got instead of read the menu. She hunkers down near the window with a bucket of fries and some condiments in paper cups, to people watch. Once a big enough group comes in to keep the staff busy, she intends to slip in among them or behind them and make off with the bucket that she's not allowed to leave the restaurant with, keeping you between her and the eyes of Dinah's proprietors. She's gonna get something out of this stupid kid's game they tricked her into playing.

Jessica Jones has won a bucket. ]

MOVE-IN DAY aka IT'S A METAPHOR @ Beta?? Residence

[ An NYC lifer, Jess is used to busy, bustling streets... full of other New Yorkers, who know how to behave in foot traffic. The other Cadell...ans, Cadellites? Cadellese? She's sure she overheard someone say it but she didn't bother hanging onto the information. The other idiots like her are all technically tourists and most of them walk like it. When Jess isn't ducking into one of the emptier businesses to pretend to browse and/or slake the gist of the local economy's vibe, she takes her chances walking on the street, and spends most of the day mapping the place with her feet without sparing a glance at her map.

As the day winds toward evening, Jess has another pass by the residences, and without a visible queue of people from the street, opts for that moment to go and check out her place. Her place, in front of which you may find her swearing when her goddamn keys don't work, and not bothering to look around before wrapping her fingers around the door knob and twisting it beyond a brief metallic wean and the crack of cheap wood. Or good wood. Who knows.

Her place, maybe not so much her place? Did they screw up on the door number too? If so, ]
Uh, hey. [ Screw it. It's not her fault the bureaucrats can't get their crap together in any universe. Her place now. ] Get out?

[ Don't forget there's always the scenario behind door number three: She got the right room number, wrong building. If someone else is doing one, feel free to do the other; I have no limit on the amount of doors and lives she can fuck up in a day. ]

( She got her wish. At least, that's what they said. Kate skipped straight from one offer to another, a knot of anxiety in her stomach that there's some unwritten part of her original deal that will leave her unable to do anything when she goes home, that writes off the months in the city of Eudio because she didn't use the right words or something equally petty. Enter: Cadelle, offering another adventure like before, if you define adventure as anything entirely unlike your daily life. Another city that asks for nothing more than some attempts at doing the nice thing. The right thing.

It's another mission. Just one more hurdle to jump before things are right again.

One more hurdle... and a shit-ton of bureaucracy.

Kate's as noticable for her hair - near-fluroescent pink falling to her waist (probably less impressive when you note she's all of 5'3") - as she is the sheer energy with which she buzzes. Never quite still while she's in the queue, her foot taps restlessly or she shifts from side to side, biting back sighs of irritation as the clock ticks.
)

C'mon...

( Talking to the counter by the clock, trying to will it to flick through the next ten numbers or so, is definitely going to work, right? )

two / conch cove
( Moving in can be less than eventful when the sum of your city possessions are the clothes with which you arrived. Or, more accurately, when your key doesn't work for your apartment at all and the city hall's closed by the time you find out that. Not the best start to a new life, not by far.

Kate's feet take her around the city while she tries to figure out what to do about it. So far the winner is keep walking until it's time for city hall to open again. She's a superhuman, and no stranger to sleepless nights. Just keep moving, which is what she's best at. Keep going until the sun rises over the city and the tide shifts-

There's something about the beach that's like a magnetic pull, where things seem endless. If Kate could fly, she could spring into the air and go anywhere. It's why she loves the rooftops back home so much. The space, the views that go on for miles. And the fact that it's way easier to traverse a busy city from up above than it is on the streets with people rushing around, traffic making you grind to a halt.

Her feet kick sand up like its dust in a construction site, steps quickening, balance shifting to accommodate for the movement of the ground beneath her as she starts running, for the lack of anything else to do.

Maybe give her a running partner? Or just question why someone's doing their workout in a hoodie, boots and black skinny jeans. That too.

[The enrolment process was an interesting one because it was like every other sign up event Thom had ever been to... as in, it was boring. There were long queues and Thom found himself getting tired just standing there surrounded by other people who were going through the exact same process as him. It was just like League tryouts except not as nerve wracking, he was here on a mission after all... and this time he didn't have any secrets to keep.

It instilled in him a sense of calm that was enough for him to turn to the person behind him, a small nervous smile on his features as he gestures to the queue beyond them.
] Queues, huh? I've never liked them. [Such an articulate young man, so full of ideas... so revolutionary. He chews a little thoughtfully on his lip, remembering how terrible his idea of small-talk went at the tryouts before throwing caution to the wind and extending a hand in greeting.] I'm Thom, Thom Creed.

b. move in day - gamma building - lounges
[So through no fault of his own, or probably something that he'd inadvertently screwed up. Thom had ended up with a set of defunct keys that, while letting him into the actual building for Gamma, didn't permit him to actually open any of the available rooms in the house. It was a ridiculously stressful thing to have happened and he'd maybe spent too much of his day trying to socialise and network, after all there were some really interesting people in the city. But it did mean that city hall had closed for the night and there was no way of resolving this key problem in Thom's immediate future.

Instead he was sitting on a couch, his head in his hands and more importantly, looking decidedly glum at his own misfortune. But hey, at least he still had a roof over his head even if he had no access to a room. It was better than the time he'd ran away from home and slept on a bus. He could probably do with a consoling word or two, or at least some company.
]

c. the colonel's - baby's first drinking experience
[Thom had made a very special discover since his arrival in Cadelle and that was people were very inviting, even the original citizens of the city- those who hadn't made wishes seemed to be very welcoming to the invading forces of this place. It made Thom feel great, the stark contrast of what he'd left behind to where he'd arrived now helping him come out of his shell a little more day by day.

One thing about people being inviting though, is that Thom somehow got invited to a bar... despite not being twenty-one. He expected to be ID'd on his way inside and found himself sorely mistaken... which was the exact moment he came out with the fateful words one beer please and had it set in front of him... it was a revelation. Thom Creed, the superhero, was now officially an adult.

He probably needed some company for this trip, from someone who was a lot more experienced than himself... someone who might inevitably reel him in. Or someone that could just provide a little pleasant company and see how this particular bud blossomed when under the influence of alcohol.

I. DINAH'S.
[ alright, so he's already assessed it may not be the best idea to make himself at home at Colonel's within his first day of the city, but god if he isn't dizzied by an ebbing need for a shot— or four. something to dull the fact that he'd been transported to a city thriving on friggin' cuddling. in essence, he gets it, and he really wouldn't bat an eye at any opportunity to get Mary back... but, still. he's not the most optimistic, deciding to settle for Dinah's after catching a waft of something fried, spotting an ad on the entry for their featured bucket of fries.

after fitting a few into his mouth, viridian hues set sights on the glory selection of pies laid behind a glossy case.
] Sweet mother-... [ alright, maybe this place isn't so awful after all. don't be alarmed to see him buying at least five slices— wherever his pad's at, it's sure as hell got to have a fridge, right? the winchester diet: beer and pie. at least he can check one of those off his list. ]

II. GOOD VIBRATIONS.
[ in his defense, the place sure as hell didn't look like a sex shop from the outside, and even when boots stalk forward along polished wooden floors, it isn't until he's met with what appears as a shrine of— well, toys that he realizes exactly where he is. so sue him if he's a little curious, venturing his way deeper into the shop upon seeing their was no company directly around him. not like he had a need for any of this stuff, good ol' hands did the trick, but... a squint, bowing down a bit with furrowed brows to study an intricate, golden— yes, golden —thing.

the price tag pulls a low whistle from the hunter's lips, that is before a rather devious looking segway to another room snatches his attention. okay, mostly it's the gleam of handcuffs and the deft weaving of leather whips he finds neatly racked along the wall. a low breath to himself:
] Well Toto, we ain't in Kansas anymore.

III. COLONEL'S.
[ well, at least he made it til sun down to slip inside the place. myriad of drafts and bottles aligned behind mahogany bar like a sight for sore eyes. he flickers two digits in the air upon finding a stool, resting forward on both arms. ] Whiskey, double and neat.

[ it comes rehearsed, far too familiar along his tongue, same fingertips used to pinch at the bridge of his nose. there's some idle chatter around him, delicate clinks of glass from the tender. was gonna take a lot more than that to come to terms with where he is, and why, but it's a start, and he's got the entire night ahead of him, eh? ]

IV. LOCKED OUT?
[ he'd just finished bringing duffel and a few other belongings- as space as they are, indoors, heading back out to lock up Baby before he hears a distressed huff, followed by a set of paced footsteps scratching at the parking lot. a short peer around indicates that most others had turned in for the evening, that or were nestled within the nightlife of the place; needless to say, the residencies were, for the most part, pretty quiet considering the first night.

he could leave it be, but perhaps curiosity's once more taken the cat as he hears some mumble of useless keys; he purses his lips, impala's door creaking as it shuts and keys twirled around his finger, opposite hand stuffing into his pocket.
] You, uh— you good?

( Move in )

[ In truth, getting situated at City Hall is a little overwhelming. There's a lot of people and well he's having to talk and that's always a bit awkward and he doesn't really lift his head much in the process of getting his welcome packet.

You might hear quiet excuses mes and pardons as he makes his way out and heads to his assigned housing on Gamma, Floor 1. He's not carrying a lot just one bag and if he saw anyone struggling he'd certainly offer to help -- whether or not his quiet words are heard or understood is another matter but if they look at him his face is kind and open and there's a sorta hopeful aura around him.

Once he gets to the North door of his floor he tries his key and then the door and it doesn't open. He tries it again -- at least three more times and then looks around a little lost. It's hard for him to tell if he's doing something wrong somehow or he has the wrong door which is the next thing that he checks.

Right building, right floor, right door. What gives? ]

[Registration wasn't a both for her, nor was finding her way to the Alpha building to find her apartment. Even the odd looks she may receive for her choice of attire. None of this bothers the Good witch, who carries herself with poise and confidence through the city and up to the fourth floor, lost in her own thoughts.

Then again, maybe those strange looks are because of the trunks she had floating behind her as she held onto her wand and the Grimmerie tightly. She's not among those that had trouble with their keys- thankfully. Otherwise the hall would be crowded with her trunks.

Still, as the trunks went in first and she followed, she stopped just past the door and frowned.]
Well, this just won't do.

[Smaller than the politician was used to- she'd just have to make do. Later. For now she sets the trunks to the side with a sigh, locks up the Grimmerie, and makes her way down to the common area- to see if anyone needs help for a while.]

to Infinitea...

[While many of the other newcomers were making their way to the local bars and pubs, Glinda found herself gravitating towards the tea shop. She looks rather picturesque, seated near a window with a plate of treats and pot of jasmine tea.

There's enough room for someone to join her and she's glad for the company. Just look at that bubbly smile she grants to anyone who looks her way as they pass!]

[Sansa has her welcoming packet and her key even though it is unlike any key she's ever seen. She had hardly been conscious of the wish she'd made but once she'd found herself here, in Cadelle, the wish made perfect sense. This is a place she can seek respite from Westeros and from Winterfell and for once she's not worried about feeding hundreds of people for the winter or hordes of enemies encroaching from both north and south. She feels as if a weight has been lifted from her slim shoulders, a chain broken, and she steels herself to explore this new place and discover what it has to offer her.

It seems, though, that the key she's been given doesn't open her room in Beta Building, Floor Three, East Unit and when she opens the door, someone else has taken up residence. It's shocking, yes, but Sansa tries to mask her surprise with a mild look and a soft question.]

Did I come to the wrong door?

***

stepping out

[After finally straightening out the mess with her room, Sansa decides to go out and explore the city. She knows very little about the device she's been given but the instructions indicate she can win some sort of prize if she succeeds in the hunt. She is competitive, in her way, and she spends a while searching out each location. She fumbles when it comes to taking photographs, though, because the concept of a selfie or even a photograph is foreign to her coming from Westeros. She finally asks for assistance after fumbling through a few shots and getting nothing but a streak of red hair or a brick wall.]

i. Gamma Building

{Kal was one of the fortunate few to not face a faulty key card or mixed up room assignment. He was one of the first people that morning in and out of City Hall. The new limitations to his powers were just as freeing as they were disconcerting, and he was afraid it would take some time getting used to only being able to focus his hearing and sight within a certain range. He'd also have to remember not to try and stop any large moving vehicles anytime soon.

He understood their reasoning behind the limitations to his abilities all too well, he just hoped nothing came to bite him on the ass. The whole point was a wish to protect Jon and Lois. Limiting his capabilities didn't seem in the best interest of that wish, but he'd agreed to abide by their rules and this was clearly a large one.

Not that a few silly limitations would stop him from meeting and helping out his neighbors, or anyone else, really, that saw him carting something around and asked for his help. Most people wouldn't even have to ask. If Kal spotted them carrying something awkward or heavy he'd be right there with an offer.}

Would you like a hand with that?

ii: Exploring the City - in person or un: superdad

A - Planetarium {Curious as Kal is he'll be starting his in-depth exploration of Cadelle with the macro-scope of his current location. Then he'll work on narrowing it down to the immediate buildings he has access to. He posts a series of pictures from the planetarium labeled with the surrounding solar systems.}

Out of curiosity, does anyone recognize these solar systems or a planet from them? I thought it might be interesting if someone wasn't quite as far off of a visitor as everyone else.

B - Sweet Creamery {The video is obviously not meant to broadcast. The camera is half obscured by shadow and plaid. The other half shows his large hand wrapped around a massive ice cream cone as he brings it up and then down again, having eaten some. His voice is wistful, talking to himself.}

Jon would love this place.

so i hear you have an access problem.

[ever the opportunist, rocket has taken up a spot on the ground floor of gamma building, an array of scrap taking up the space in the corner of the lobby that he's claimed for himself. each of the other two buildings has a hastily scrawled out sign telling the new arrivals where he is; an offer to have him do let them in to their assigned rooms. he may not have working keys to all their doors, but they aren't necessarily needed. he has his own methods. ones he's sorely hoping the positive will outweigh the negative with.

so yes, meet rocket. the raccoon fuzzy looking guy who's currently swearing up a storm as he builds...whatever it is he's building. (spoilers: it's not a bomb this time). if he's not there, there's instead a sorry looking plant stepping in for him, a sign leaning against its pot saying he'll be back in a while. (Diana has never lived in a place quite like Cadelle; her flat in Paris is fairly quiet and the hustle and bustle of move in at her building is something she's never seen before. It is almost like a tour group at the Louvre gone horribly awry and she isn't certain how to make heads or tails of it. She has her welcome packet in hand and it doesn't take her that long to find her accommodations in the Alpha Building so now she's trying to help others find their way. She neatly dodges someone, offering a smile when it appears they're lost.)

Are you having trouble finding your room? I could help, possibly, if you have your welcome packet and your key.

(Diana isn't one to stand idly by when there's things to be done and when she isn't helping someone navigate the building, she's helping to move things, shift furniture, or even take photographs for those who have chosen to go on the scavenger hunt.)

I. MOVING DAY
Funny, somehow Derek secretly wasn't sure he believed that leaving Beacon Hills would make any difference at all. At first, it kind of hadn't. Bad luck seems to follow him everywhere he goes and when he tries to escape, it almost seems to get worse; the outward ripple grows. Obviously, keeping his baby sister safe is and always will be his first priority, so when he headed to South America to catch up with her and the hunters seemed to follow, it was sort of a no-brainer for him to take the offer for Cadelle in exchange for his sister's safety. She seems to do better when she's not with him, anyway, so as difficult as it had been to finally let go, he's made his choice.

Honestly, he'd thought this would be a lot easier than it is, but the friendliness of the people greeting and helping to enroll the volunteers is unnerving in a way he can't quite put his finger on. Maybe he's just been living in Beacon Hills too long. That's probably it. He's so distracted by that that when he gets to his door and it won't open, his first reflexive thought is that he's made the mistake. But, no...according to the assignment — Gamma building, first floor, west unit — this is supposed to be his new home.

So why the hell won't the door open?

After several unsuccessful tries, Derek growls with frustration, kicking the door. "Open, dammit!" he grunts as he tries again. Honestly, he could probably just rip the damn thing off its hinges, but that would make a scene, so he'd really rather not. "Come on..."

II. CRUNCHES
Until he can get some of his own equipment in his own place, if Derek wants to continue his workout regimen, it means he's going to have to hit the local gym. There are worse places to have to work out, he supposes, than this. It's nice in here. ...busy and thick with the scents of sweat and determination — so thick that it takes a few minutes for him to adjust to keep from practically choking on it — but nice.

Derek finds an open bench press and, clearing his throat and looking furtively around to make sure he's not necessarily being watched as he does so, he starts to load several hundred pounds worth of weights onto the bar.

He's used to having to lift without a spotter, so he doesn't really look around for anyone before he settles onto the bench and prepares himself mentally to get started. It doesn't occur to him that some bystander might offer anyway because they're not used to seeing someone lift this much without a spotter.

this seems as good a time as any to set up her okCuddle profile and start swiping. gotta get a head start, right? sara's no stranger to this kind of place, and they're all here for one reason. but — man, wouldn't it be awkward if the person she just swiped on happened to be standing right behind her in line? or maybe, just maybe, it's a stroke of good luck. hey, you're not reading over her shoulder, are you?

sara doesn't stick around alpha for too long, though, considering once she gets to her sixth floor apartment, she finds a key broken off into her doorknob and subsequently kicks the door down in spectacularly dramatic fashion, drops her stuff, chats with the beautiful alien responsible, and then heads out to explore instead. )
DINAH'S DINER.
( yeah, wandering around the city feels a lot better than trying to settle into a room that gave her total war flashbacks to moving into her college dorm what feels like literal lifetimes ago with her mom, dad, and sister. and, in a way, it kind of was lifetimes ago — back before the queen's gambit, the amazo, lian yu, nanda parbat, star city, literal actual death, the lazarus pit, and the waverider.

sara lets her feet follow her stomach rather than her brain, and ends up being stopped in her tracks in front of an old dining car-turned-diner. dinah's. the name's like a punch to the gut, makes her eyes sting a little. just when she thinks she's okay, there's another reminder of her sister who's gone: dinah laurel lance. but eudio supposedly granted her incentive of bringing laurel back to star city, back to their dad — she just hasn't been able to return home to ensure that it's really true, that it actually happened. this place feels like some kind of cosmic sign.

after standing there, just looking for a minute or so, sara sucks in a breath and heads inside, taking her perch atop a single stool in the long row of unoccupied seats along the counter, and immediately orders a black and white milkshake. want a lunch companion? sara wouldn't mind some idle conversation. )

Beta Building

[Meet one Elizabeth Swann. Newly appointed Pirate King. Recently betrayed by the man she loves, lost a man who loved her and learned of her father's murder. She had every reason to be here- she had more to question why she was.

That was neither here nor there as she made her way to the Beta building with a trunk of her belongings dragging behind her, as well as a packet, key and weapons permit in hand. There was no need for her sword and pistol, she was sure, but it made her feel all the better having them on her hip- at least for the time being.

If she's not offered help, she manages to drag her trunk up a flight of stairs to the second floor and, thanks to her compass, manages to find the north apartment- only for her key to break in the door knob.]

You must be bloody kidding me.

The Colonel's & Criminales

[Still clad in the clothing from Sao Feng's ship, Elizabeth found her way to one of the bars that had been suggested to her. She would deal with her room situation later- she was just now beginning to understand why pirates drank so much, apart from the lack of drinkable water on ships.

She walked into The Colonel's and was immediately dumbfounded, for lack of a better word. The wall of alcohol was more than a little intimidating and she's definitely out of her comfort zone.

Later, however, she can be found at Criminales- and whether it's because of the drink she may have had at the Colonel's or not, she looks far more in her comfort zone here. Though she grew up every bit prim and proper, her company as of the past couple of years was more of the sort that would frequent this establishment. She's found a spot at the bar, ale in hand, all the while keeping an eye on whoever else was in the bar.]

Move-in Day // City Hall, Alpha Building
[ After a rather embarrassing incident involving a man with an illegally handsome face, Felicity turns off the screen on her phone and slides it into her purse. It's just for now, she tells herself. Just so she doesn't accidentally punch someone else in the face, or stumble into them, or ... a slew of other embarrassing things, while she's trying to explore all that Cuddle City's technology has to offer.

Instead, she takes in a big breath as she looks around. By the time to exhale, there's only one thought in her mind: Let's do this.

By some stroke of luck, she doesn't have any problems getting into her apartment, even if on the way to her door, she sees a trail of broken hearts, all devastated that their room assignments aren't correct or that their keys just aren't working. ]

What's going on? Can I see that for a sec?

[ She'll offer, especially if you have the right key for the right door but it's just not cooperating, to take a look. If it's after hours and maintenance is closed, she just might hack your lock open for you so you can deal with the keycard in the morning. Or, if you look like you could really use some company after all the confusion and frustration, she's happy to let anyone who's been nice to her in the process crash in her apartment for the night. ]

Scavenger Hunt! // Deja Brew, Glazed, Infinitea, Good Vibrations
This is actually kinda charming.

[ She's looking at her phone and talking to herself right outside of the Alpha building. Felicity just got the text about the scavenger hunt, and as cheesy as it sounds, deep down she thinks it's kind of a brilliant idea for new people to get to know a new city. Plus, she was just on her way to figuring out all the best coffeeshops in town.

Throughout the day, Deja Brew and Infinitea both have her sticking around a little just to check out their menus, try some coffees and teas (don't judge, you can never have enough caffeine), and laugh a little when she finds the little foam latte portrait of their volunteer coordinators. ]

Do you guys have punch cards here? You know like, for every 10th coffee get the next one free? ... No? You should think about it.

[ Working in IT isn't very lucrative okay? At least, not compared to what she could've been making back home as a software engineer. But she just ... she's not going to go there.

Glazed on the other hand, has Felicity taking a few photos because of how adorable those panda cupcakes look. She orders one for the road, and nibbles on it on her way to the next interesting destination.

Finally, at some point in the day, she walks into Good Vibrations because of it's sneakily classy window display, that makes it look like a boutique clothing store instead of an adult toy store. When she's about halfway in though, she realizes what kinds of products are displayed on the shelves and quietly makes a beeline for the exit. ]
