MOVE-IN DAY
Welcome to Cadelle, cuddlers! The city is — for the most part, at least — very happy with the first wave of volunteers who have chosen to spend time here! To help everyone get settled a little easier, Mayor Drake and her team have put together a series of helpful booths, each staffed by friendly citizen volunteers who are more than ready to answer any questions characters may have.
▸ First things first: visitors will need to visit City Hall to officially enroll as a Cadelle citizen. Once complete, they'll receive their Welcome Packet, which will include all of the most important items for settling in. Characters will find keys to their apartment and associated mail box, their housing assignment, and their pre-activated CuddleCard, ready to go. In addition, the volunteer coordinators have included a newly printed map of the city, as well as contact information for various city-run organizations, just in case!
▸ Due to the influx of energy from all of the new visitors, the city’s computer systems have been experiencing some "minor hiccups". While this is nothing to be concerned about, characters may find themselves mildly inconvenienced — they may have received keys that don’t work in their door, or been issued someone else's room assignment unknowingly!
▸ If they've arrived during regular business hours, characters are, of course, able to visit the maintenance office on the first floor of each building for help switching out their mismatched keys or determining their correct assignment. However, getting settled after hours will require a little extra creative problem solving — like asking a new friend if sharing a bed for the night seems reasonable, sleeping on the couches in the public lounges downstairs, or maybe even roughing it for the night outdoors. (Of course, there's always the frowned-upon methods of breaking and entering... not that you heard it from us!)
▸ As with any move-in day, there’s bound to be lots to see and do. Characters may need help carrying their things, or even just help finding their way around. If they're lucky enough to find their room without problem, they may not be so lucky in their assignment. They may find themselves living underneath someone who's got to be part elephant (who stomps that much at 6 AM?!) or just above someone who insists on burning every batch of popcorn they make! Get out there, meet the neighbors, and see what this city has to offer!
CITY SCAVENGER HUNT
A few days after the big move-in weekend, characters will find an unread message on their CuddlePhone, encouraging them to check out the CuddleTalk network for a very special message from two very special guests. When they do, they’ll find a cute (but admittedly very cheesy) video message from Cadelle’s volunteer coordinators, Flora and Cornelius. The video highlights a few of the most popular destinations in the city — Blaze Pizza, for example, the home of the ninety-second wood-fired pizza, or Dinah’s, where you can enjoy a literal bucket of fries perfect for sharing.
At the end of the video, a link will come up for characters to click if they are so inclined. They’ll be directed to a sign-up page for a city-wide scavenger hunt, with a grand prize promised for the first team to complete the challenge.
Want to participate?
▸ Characters will be able to sign up for the scavenger hunt either on their own or with a friend. (The prizes remain the same regardless of the size of the team, so if your character wants all the money for themselves, they'll either want to race it alone or pick a very generous teammate!)
▸ Among the many delicious dining destinations around Cadelle, characters will discover three venues that the volunteer coordinators have tapped as their current favorites. Somewhere in those three venues, characters will find a beautiful framed photo of Flora and Cornelius.

▸ When characters find the photo, they'll be instructed to take their best selfie, being sure to capture themselves, the framed snapshot, and their teammate (if they chose to bring one along) in the shot.
▸ The first group to send in all three selfies will win the grand prize — one month's stipend worth of extra CuddleBucks! However, all competitors who complete the challenge will be rewarded with a token of appreciation — one week's stipend worth of CuddleBucks, just for playing along!
▸ While characters explore the city, they just might find some "bonus" surprises along the way. Keep your eyes peeled!
Helpful Hint: To find the secret locations (and any hidden bonuses along the way), check out our CITY DIRECTORY for all the amazing destinations your character can explore! Feel free to sort by category on the left, and click your way through your first big adventure in the big city!
Mod Note: For fairness, the "grand prize" winner will be determined by RNG in a drawing on August 4 at 3:00 PM. If your character would like to be eligible to win the grand prize, please be sure to leave us a comment so we can include them in the drawing!

[Sansa has her welcoming packet and her key even though it is unlike any key she's ever seen. She had hardly been conscious of the wish she'd made but once she'd found herself here, in Cadelle, the wish made perfect sense. This is a place she can seek respite from Westeros and from Winterfell and for once she's not worried about feeding hundreds of people for the winter or hordes of enemies encroaching from both north and south. She feels as if a weight has been lifted from her slim shoulders, a chain broken, and she steels herself to explore this new place and discover what it has to offer her.
It seems, though, that the key she's been given doesn't open her room in Beta Building, Floor Three, East Unit and when she opens the door, someone else has taken up residence. It's shocking, yes, but Sansa tries to mask her surprise with a mild look and a soft question.]
Did I come to the wrong door?

stepping out
[After finally straightening out the mess with her room, Sansa decides to go out and explore the city. She knows very little about the device she's been given but the instructions indicate she can win some sort of prize if she succeeds in the hunt. She is competitive, in her way, and she spends a while searching out each location. She fumbles when it comes to taking photographs, though, because the concept of a selfie or even a photograph is foreign to her coming from Westeros. She finally asks for assistance after fumbling through a few shots and getting nothing but a streak of red hair or a brick wall.]
Do you know how to use this to capture my face?
Stepping out
I sure do. It takes a little practice to be able to take pictures of yourself.
Re: Stepping out
(Sansa is not one to ask for help, not any longer, but this man seems to be friendly on the surface. She hands him her device and stands back against the wall, smiling a bit as she has seen others do when they capture their faces for display. It's a strange custom, doing this, but she guesses it is no stranger than a Northern habit of saying words before a tree or a Southron habit of throwing a feast or a ball for any event, no matter how trivial. She will adapt. She always does.)
Am I in frame properly?
no subject
Yes! You look great, don't worry.
{He takes a couple of photos, horizontally and vertically so she'll have a few choices to pick from.}
Here you go, I took a few so you can get rid of the ones you don't like and keep your favorite.
no subject
Thank you, ser. I could not have done it without you. [A pause, then a dip of her head in deference.] I am Sansa Stark, of Winterfell. What is your name?
no subject
I'm sure you would have figured it out. {He bends slightly at the waist, not a full bow, but a gesture of respect nonetheless. Clark Kent might supposedly be clueless, but the Last Son of Krypton knew a large variety of manners from many places.} I'm Clark Kent, of Earth. It's nice to meet you, Miss Stark.
no subject
It's wonderful to meet you, Clark. You're a welcome sight when I am trying to navigate a place like this - it is so different than anything I have ever known before.
no subject
{He's smiles back at her, his best reassuring grin. Kal got the feeling it might be way more than the phones throwing her off. She looked a bit like maybe she'd seen some hard times. Even if this wasn't a place to help others, he'd be offering her assistance.}
no subject
(Clark seems the kind of person who would stop along a road and help get a cart unstuck from the mud or would help chop firewood for a man who was too old but in need of warmth for the winter. He reminded her, in all the good ways, of the way that men and women in the North would work together against the long winter; when the cold wind blows and the snow falls, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives. Clark seems like he would be part of a pack, in a way, and Sansa chances a smile at him. She smiles so rarely these days.)
I am grateful for those who are so open and giving of their time. I know this place draws such but still...in a selfish world, it is a comfort and a pleasant surprise to see those who are giving to others.
moving in
When Sansa opens the door and looks a bit shocked, Claire's not sure she did get the wrong assignment. Well what was going on?]
Uh...I don't know, what did they tell you was your room?
[Claire's a bit nervous now, but she hopes they can work it out together.]
I was supposed to be in four, but my key opened this one?
Re: moving in
Six, I think, but the key seems to have worked in four instead. I think we should simply switch our keys, shouldn't we?
no subject
[Somehow, Claire doubts it. But she's willing to give it a try an see how it works out. Obviously she doesn't want to keep invading Sansa's space.
Claire stands, and offers Sansa a small smile.]
I'm Claire.
[She holds her hand out for Sansa to shake if she should wish to.]
no subject
Well met. My name is Sansa. Hopefully we can switch our keys but if not, I suppose we'll have to find out where we are supposed to live.
no subject
I guess we should try that first and if it doesn't work, go from there?
[It seems logical enough to Claire. And she's not all that bothered by the situation when she's been in worse.]
no subject
Let's give it a try. I have done much more difficult things in life than try a key in a few doors. We should assume it only works in this building, right?
no subject
Yeah, so have I. [It's a bit of an understatement but she doesn't know Sansa well enough to share all of that just yet, even if people at home know a great deal.]
Oh man, I hope so. Otherwise this could get very awkward and take awhile to sort out.
no subject
[That sort of thing starts wars back in Westeros, after all, and while Cadelle is quite different Sansa still cannot quite put her past behind her.]
Isn't this place supposed to be about good feelings and good deeds?
no subject
[This prank was mostly harmless, unless someone got mad or something went terribly wrong, but she and Sansa seemed to be handling things alright]
Maybe it's even to force us to get to know other people?
no subject
I don't think I've been pranked since I was eleven. If it is a prank, at least no one is hurt, right? And I met you, so that's been nice.
no subject
[And there had been that whole...sorority hazing thing.]
But yes, it's been nice to meet you too. Once we get all of this figured out we should go get coffee or ice cream or something.
no subject
[ Sansa has had very little to cheer for in the last few years so someone who knows something about it might be welcome. At her offer for coffee or an ice cream, Sansa nods quickly. She knows those are treats that are common here in Cadelle - but only from the scavenger hunt. ]
no subject
[Saying it aloud to someone who has no idea what it is, Claire realizes it sounds a little dumb. But it was something she'd enjoyed once.]
I think I saw an ice cream place not too far from here. And I'm sure there is a coffee shop too.
no subject
[Sansa smiles at the memory, remembering how Jon and Robb would always take the blame for the rest of them even if they'd all done wrong. ]
no subject
[Claire makes a face at that, she seems pretty brave for doing that.]
What we have here will probably be a lot sweeter.
no subject
[Sansa laughs softly.]
My lady mother didn't like us getting into too many sweets. She said it was bad for us.
