It's good to see me isn't it? | ota

CHARACTERS: Glinda + You!!
LOCATIONS: All around town
WARNINGS: None yet???
SUMMARY: The Good Witch is volunteering, mingling and being all around "Good". Will match styles if brackets work better for you.

a. Out and About

On any given day, the Good Witch can be found wandering the town looking for good deeds to fulfill. She's impossible to miss, too, given that she's not keen on fitting in and tends to wear her iconic (if she were back in Oz) blue gown.

Her gift from the city officials made it easier to flit around town, but no less distracting- if only she knew how to drive the thing. At first it seemed easy, she rolled down the street, the bubbles trailing behind her- almost like her actual preferred mode of transportation. She held her chin high and a soft smile on her lips as she starred in her one-woman parade.

It didn't last long, however. Later she can be found nearly barreling down the rode, holding on for dear life, eyes wide. "Please move! I don't know how to stop it!" she shouted ahead, eager to have as few injuries as possible from this trainwreck... It was possibly comical to those who were watching, a flurry of bubbles being left in her wake as the generally dignified witch realized that coming and going by literal bubble did nothing to teach one how to operate a mechanical one.

b. Closed to Derek

Glinda still hasn't found herself a steady 'job' for her stay in the city. To be perfectly honest, the Good Witch may have felt she was a little too "Good" for most of the available positions. It wasn't that she was stuck up, far from it (at least compared to when she was younger- a term used loosely in this instance). She was just a political woman who had a high standard for herself, and serving tea at Infinitea didn't quite cut it.

The Good Witch sat perched at a high table, in a private room at Vinery with a glass of wine in front of her and an empty one in front of an empty seat as she waited for Derek to arrive. Was this too much? Too fancy? He was only going to help her find a job... but at this point she felt it best that she be wholly honest with him. He deserved it.

The first time that Felicity sees that bubblemobile, her jaw visibly drops.

"No way," she says to herself, eyes wide and focused on what looks like a huge mechanical ... circle, that's moving a woman down the street as if it were a car. Wait, is that thing a car?

But Felicity doesn't have long to wonder the specifics, because before she knows it, she hears the way the metal starts grinding faster over the concrete, and the woman inside is shouting for her to move. She feels, very suddenly, like a deer in the headlights, frozen and staring — even imagining her own impeding doom — before she finally wills her feet to move. It's just barely in time before she feels the wind of the bubblemobile pushing her back even further.

"Me?" she asks, snapping out of the fact that she just watched a large metal ball barrel further down the street. "Yes! Of course, yes, I'm okay. But what about you?"

She's on her way over too, because even though there's no world in which she could have actually chased down something that big, Felicity's first instinct was to run after it. There was a person inside — she couldn't just stand by and panic. She would have needed to call for help.

Except now, as the woman steps out, a staff in hand, Felicity slows down to meet her in the middle. "Are you okay?"

"No I'm ... I'm perfectly fine."

Part of her honestly, is in awe of Glinda's outfit, but Felicity catches herself and asks about the more obvious question as she points towards the large bubblemobile.

"Where did you get that ... um ... carriage?"

She probably should've said car, but there's something about it and the woman in front of her that reminds her of Cinderella's pumpkin. It all feels like some modern version of a fairy tale.

Being friends with Glinda is kind of awesome, if Derek is being honest. Some part of him might secretly still be hoping that just an ounce of her bubbly attitude might rub off on him, because while he's been doing really well (in his opinion) with the whole looking at the bright side of things...thing...it'd be a hell of a lot easier if he didn't have to put so much effort into remaining consistent with it. She always seems to be able to find a reason to smile and he both envies and appreciates that about her.

Today, he's meeting her for lunch at Vinery before helping her find a job. Honestly, Derek does find that a little bit ironic, considering his job at CriminALES is literally the first actual job he's ever had. He's probably the last person who should be helping her, but maybe if he can, then she'll be able to feel a little more accomplished in the whole settling in thing. Having a job really helped him to feel more like he belongs here and he wants that same welcome feeling for Glinda.

"Hey," he greets after being led to the private room. He grins a little before sliding onto the stool across from her. "Fancy. I've never been here. Is it good?" Wine isn't really his thing, but then neither is any alcohol, typically, since it doesn't really have any effect on him. At least, he'll give it to Glinda, the flavor is nicer and the bite is less bitter with wine.

It's weirdly nice to see Glinda a little less intentionally put together. She looks significantly more casual and relaxed in a pair of jeans and he can't help thinking that there's something he can't quite put his finger on that he really likes about that. The movement is mostly lost on him as he settles onto his own stool.

"Oh no problem, any time," he says and he genuinely does mean that. Anytime a friend needs something, Derek will always try to be there for them, no matter how simple or complex the thing.

Shaking his head, Derek smiles. "Nah, you already know that I'd never had a job before I got here, either. At least not a job like the ones they have here. You're in good company. It's probably harder for you, even, since you're used to being in politics." Which is weird to say. Really weird. She's Glinda. Not that the Wizard of Oz gave much context, but he'd never really thought "politician" when he'd seen her on the screen. Gentle ruler, maybe, but not politician.

His brow creases with slight confusion and he looks back at her. "I don't think you owe me anything, but I'll definitely listen," he promises quietly. There's nothing Derek can imagine that would turn him off to wanting to be a part of Glinda's life and have her as a part of his, after all, so if she would feel better sharing then he's happy to listen.
