EVENT: SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!

EVENT: SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!

I said, brr, it's cold out here! There must be some Toros snow in the atmosphere! In fact, there's a whole lot of snow. Ever since the energy festival, the fluffy stuff has been really coming down. It starts off casual — a few inches here, a few more there, maybe even a foot or so overnight, just right for a last minute festive snowman. But by the time the clock strikes midnight on the eve of the new year, what's started as just a few inches has quickly escalated to a few feet of deep, white powder.

On the morning of the new year, the city of Cadelle seems to be blanketed in a never-ending sea of cold, crisp white stuff. As far as the eye can see, the snow covers everything in its path, from treetops to sidewalks to the awnings of businesses dotting Main Street. The city's yet to pull out its snowplows and clear the path, so any last minute errands or adventures will require a little extra effort. Maybe it's best to just stay put? After all, sleeping in is practically a tradition in itself on New Year's Day — especially after a glass or two too many of the bubbly stuff!

For those that brave the elements, the morning flurries in the air might not seem too imposing. It's just another snowfall, surely no more than an inch or two at a time; while a warm coat and sturdy boots are recommended, the weather seems more casual than catastrophic. Of course, if anything's been proven in this city, it's that "too good to be true" definitely is. By mid-afternoon, the gentle breeze and its accompanying flurries is replaced by a sudden and surprise blizzard. The winds come in with a howl, thick with snow and ice that quickly piles up in front of doors and windows, blockading anyone inside and making it difficult — if not impossible — for anyone outside to get in.

Surprise, it's a blizzard, and you're snowed in... or maybe out. What will you do? While there's surely a million ways to beat the chill, consider the following:

▸ For the first few hours of the blizzard, things seem to be operating as normal — or, at the very least, as normal as can be in the middle of a sudden snowstorm. The power stays on, wi-fi stays strong, and you might even find the atmosphere inspiring a little cozy canoodling with a certain someone you know. You might even enjoy the soothing sounds of Cuddleflix in the background while you... what's the word? Chill? In any case, relax; we're sure it'll be all over soon.

▸ Of course, those who live a little further out from the Welcome District and its well-insulated city-run buildings may find that their private domiciles are less equipped for sudden snowstorms. Power might flicker here earlier, and being further out from the city's governed spaces might mean it'll take longer for restoration crews and their snowplows to get to you.

▸ If you've chosen to wander the city in the morning, will you choose to turn back at the first signs of inclement weather? You might choose instead to duck inside the first warm place you find — city staples like Deja Brew or the public library will wave in anyone they see in the streets once the winds pick up, and by mid-afternoon, many of those doors will stay shut. Anyone who's inside will just have to wait until things calm down before they'll be able to venture out on the streets — after all, it's no use going out just to be in the way of a snowplow or two!

▸Like any natural disaster, the city promises to do its best to resolve its citizens' concerns as quickly as possible. However, with so many people to care for and so few helpers to go around, things might not move as quickly as you might like. Or maybe you're impatient to help yourself. Do you make a plea for supplies, or perhaps volunteer yourself to search and rescue?

Whatever you do, inside or out, we hope you'll heed the city's warnings and stay safe — light a fire, pile on the blankets, and try not to open any windows if you can help it!

That's right, cuddlers, it's finally time for everyone's favorite winter trope — a good old-fashioned snow day! Characters may be snowed in at home, cozy and comfortable so long as the power stays on, or they might find themselves stuck outside in the elements. Worse still, maybe they're stuck inside... with somebody else, no doubt! (Maybe they're happy about it... but our money says they're probably not too thrilled.) Whatever you choose, and whatever you do, we hope you have a blast exploring the unexpected side effects of all that energy created during the festival. Maybe somebody should look into that...

[ honestly, the bag variety isn't as good at his grandma's tea. but it's warm and it gives tomas something to focus on other than how bad he's gotten at normal human interaction. he wishes marcus were here, he's immune to social awkwardness. ]

I'm pretty sure the stuff inside the bags are crushed dry leaves, usually.

[ he's still smiling though, he figures kimberly is a city girl, of course she wouldn't know nor care to know. ]

Oh. ( well, now she feels a little stupid. a little sheepish too, curled up in front of a fire, hands clinging to a cup of hot tea she's yet to even put to her lips. what a combination. she's really on her game today. ) I... am an idiot.

( please forgive her. )

Wow.

Hey, it's alright. How were you supposed to know?

[ how old can she possibly be? high school aged, still. 18 at most. tomas knew nothing at 18. hell, he knew very little even at 25. ]

Besides, your brain's probably half frozen. You should drink it, it'll warm you up.
