Late Friday afternoon, a chime can be heard around town, its tinny vibrations echoing out of the speakers of each CuddlePhone. Should you check your own, you'll find a notification for a new video message on the CuddleTalk network from a username you don't recognize. @CSC, short for Cadelle's own Social Committee, has left a message, and they're clearly very eager for you to witness it.
Click through to the network, and you'll be greeted by the bright, smiling face of Cadelle's Social Committee chair, who's more than ready to tell you all about the exciting events in store for later this month.
▸ The city's been a little crazy lately, hasn't it? Between earthquakes and GPS malfunctions and seemingly endless administrative mix-ups, the Social Committee thinks there's truly no better time than the present to enjoy a bit of good old-fashioned revelry. Normally, this time of year offers a little extra spooky fun with the annual Samhain Ball held at the end of the month, but the Committee has decided to move things forward to give everybody a much needed chance to unwind. This year, the Samhain Ball will be held on the 15th of the month — just a week away — and promises to be a scary good time!
▸ The party itself, you'll learn, will be held at the Ballroom Hotel starting at 8:00 PM on the 15th, with festivities going into the witching hour and beyond. There's a strict black-and-white dress code to match the skeletons and spectres hosting the event, so be sure to dress the part. Good dancing shoes are highly recommended as well, as a live band will be providing music all night long, and the Committee hopes you'll come hungry in order to enjoy the delicious plated meal offered to all party goers!
▸ As fantastic as everything is sure to sound, a week doesn't exactly give a lot of time for preparation and planning, but the Committee is dedicated to creating a truly magical experience for all of its guests. However... they might need a few extra hands to make it happen. If you're up to the task, feel free to join them for pre-party volunteering opportunities — whether you feel like helping decorate or lending your talents in creating delicious treats for the masses or something else altogether, your time and energy will certainly be much appreciated! Regrettably, the Committee doesn't quite have the budget to pay, hence the volunteering, but a good deed done's just as good... right?
▸ One last thing: before you protest that you're more of a wallflower than a dancing machine, the Committee would like to remind you that complimentary dance classes will be held in the afternoons and evenings at Doo-Wops, the local swing club near the boardwalk. These classes, offered in partnership with the Barred dance studio, are available for no cost for a limited time. They're a great opportunity to learn how to move it, shake it, and even celebrate it on the dance floor — classes range from traditional waltzes to more upbeat options like swing, so there's something for everybody. Feel free to bring your own partner, or be matched up with other brave single dancers during class. Who knows? You might just find your perfect dance partner when you sweep them off their feet!
Announcement over, the feed cuts to black, and you're left looking at your own beautiful reflection in the screen of your phone. As the day goes on, you'll find plenty of flyers and other reminders tacked up around town to help you remember all the great opportunities available for you to enjoy. In the meantime... maybe take a look at your wardrobe, or work up the courage to ask that special someone if they'll be your plus one for the night. Unfortunately, Mayor Drake's already taken.
Greetings, cuddlers, and welcome to the first part of our exciting mid-month event! Characters will obviously have opportunity to learn about the upcoming Samhain Ball through their CuddlePhones, as well as through word of mouth from their friends and anyone else they may come in contact with throughout their day. Of course, as with anything else, participation in any or all of the named events — from the dance classes to volunteering sessions to even the ball itself — is entirely optional, but we hope you'll have some fun with some good old-fashioned fancy party tropes.
As a reminder, our CUDDLE CITY UNIVERSE is ever-expanding, and we're always on the lookout for new and exciting locations to add to our world. If you've ever got an idea for a place your character would want to explore (or maybe a place they wouldn't want to wind up), please don't hesitate to let us know about it by dropping us a line at our SUGGESTION POST!
And, though we say it every time, please don't forget that your mod team is here for you with answers to any questions you might have, whether related specifically to this event or the game in general. If you have any further questions specific to this event, we encourage you to ask away on our QUESTIONS COMMENT here in this post. If you have general questions, or prefer a more private venue, our GENERAL INBOX (and SCREENED INBOX) is always available for you.
That's about all from us today, so as they say, be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes! |

kara's reaction, in turn, is less the beatific smile of a satisfied heroine and more defensiveness, mouth pulled in a taut line as she practically vibrates with irritation. ) You were falling, ( she points out, stating the obvious as if it's the most basic fact in the entire cosmos; it doesn't stop her from dropping trini's small frame like a sack of potatoes, but she is careful to ensure the drop is feet-first. she's not cruel. )
I caught you.

[is trini's grumbled reply before kara's hands go away and gravity does its work. she's not too far from the ground, so there's no need to worry about flipping or adjusting. she sticks the landing, ground beneath her cracking just a bit from the impact of her feet. she might even finish with a grin and exaggerated bow and wave like some sort of olympic gymnast who's just gotten a perfect 10 (or however the hell they rate gymnasts these days).]
I wouldn't have fallen if someone hadn't been trying to help. [the last word is accompanied by oft used air quotes. hopefully kara gets her drift.]

( but at least the other girl's now safely on the ground, so kara can let herself come down too, floating slowly down until the flat of her heels come in contact with the floor. )
You should be more careful.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I wasn't worried one bit.

I don't think the downward facing dog would save your neck if the ladder fell...
( you're welcome for the suggestion, by the way, miss sarcastic. )

Maybe not, but [trini takes the opportunity to backflip, again making a perfect landing.] that might.
