Is it hot in here, cuddlers, or is it just us? No, it's definitely hot — the end of summer is here, and a few miles out from the city, on the beach, the scene is set: if you’ve been able to follow’s Baby’s clues, they led you here.
The dress code is — surprise, surprise — beachwear, but do think of bringing some layers to cover up these beautiful bikinis and all, because the night could get a little chilly if you stray too far from that bonfire. And, of course, if you don’t want to be that exposed, it’s not like the dress code is a mandatory thing, either. (Just don't be surprised if you hear a few disappointed groans from the audience if you come all covered up.)
The first thing that can be seen is a BAR, with a large poster advertising CriminALES at its front. Like any good beach bar, beers and cocktails with tiny little umbrellas in them can be obtained for a small price — or for free, if you're suave enough to impress the bartender on duty. Nearby, SNACK TABLES feature a veritable buffet of edibles, ranging from chips to brownies to crudites and dips (all courtesy of Kimberly and Clary, thank you!). However, if you felt like bringing your own food and alcohol to the party, you won’t be turned away.
Further down the beach, dry wood has been piled up in what looks like an imminent BONFIRE; if you're a little too delicate to rest on the sand, don't worry — there are plenty of bean bags, cushions, and blankets. Feel free to cuddle up to someone familiar, or maybe a new friend, and enjoy the roaring fire once the sun sets.
Beyond the obvious entertainment of the sun, surf, and sand, your party planners have gone to great lengths to ensure everyone is ready to have a great time. Near the bar, inflated beach balls and other toys are strewn around, and the beach's VOLLEYBALL COURT is no stranger to a game or two. As the night goes on, there just might be a few DRINKING GAMES started — "spin the bottle", anyone?
Of course, a party hosted by Baby himself wouldn't be the same without the all-important KILLER TUNES. Nestled directly to the side of the seating area, a makeshift DJ booth flanked by tiki torches serves as the beating heart of the party, and marks the start of a large square expanse of sand, a DIY DANCE FLOOR cordoned off by a large speaker in each of the four corners, all connected by links of colorful bunting.
As promised, the MUSIC will be blasting until the morning, ranging from massive party tunes
(no,
but
seriously)
to
romantic
ballads
for those who feel like a slow dance.
There are also, strewn around, some
serious
dancing
jams
because what’s a party without some exquisitely cheesy songs?
Later on, when there is less dancing and more lounging around,
quieter,
softer
classics
will be put on as background music.
Feel free to MAKE A REQUEST (or ten), or even steal the mic and sing a little song yourself!
Come on down, Cadelle, and give the summer one last hurrah before it goes away. As the unimitable Ella Fitzgerald would say, "it's summertime, and the livin' is easy."

( time for reflecting pushed aside, a greedy drink from the glass follows, her questioning lingering for the briefest of moments ) Yeah, after the volleyball game. It’s cool but not too cold. ( he didn’t worry for their furry responsibility; kara’s hearing, attuned far greater than his own, would easily pick up on atticus stirring from the deep sleep at any point. digging a place for his glass in the sand, he reaches out, pulling her towards her feet as he rises.
enough social interactions took place for the day; an intimate setting, the two of them alone, and the chance to see a smile beaming across her expression represented too good of an opportunity to pass up ) Come on. You might even find a few seashells later. ( childish? in a way, but wholesome didn’t corner a large market in his life, so being able to indulge it from time to time with her felt good.
releasing kara’s hand of his grasp, he beelines for the water, the gentle rolling of the tide washing past his ankles. turning so oliver could watch her approach, he slowly moves backwards, until waist deep ) You might have superpowers but I’m an incredibly strong swimmer. ( a playful hint of challenge )

superpowers or not, swimming isn't something that falls under the supergirl duty list. she's capable, of course — a crash landing into the lakes had happened more than once while she was still learning how to navigate the skies — but it's never been something she's done for fun, or especially well. oliver likely has the upper hand there. not that it stops her from meeting his gaze with a grin, or from diving in to catch up to him, bobbing to the surface just an arm's reach away. )
Yeah? ( now-wet hair is pushed off her face with a sweep of her fingers ) Maybe you should have been a lifeguard, then. Saving all the drowning girls at the beach...

a steady pace; wading backwards, the cool depth of the water rising, crawling up his skin, watching kara dip beneath the surface, inching closer ) The drowning girls will have someone else to rescue them. ( hair damp, swept back, no one would have suspected how powerful she is. easy for him to forget; she stopped being her abilities to oliver a long time ago. )
Did I ever tell you... ( eliminating the distance between them, he reaches for kara's hand, grasping it gently under water, helping to guide, until her fingertips were brushing across the indentations near his hip ) That this one was from a shark bite? ( the story might sound incredulous from someone else; she knows him, and the far more unbelievable things they had both gone through. head turning backwards, the sight of the larger wave rolling in makes his lips quirk into a smile, arm wrapping around kara to hold her against him ) I'd suggest closing your eyes.

this isn't the first scar she's felt on his skin, either. no, that was somewhere else, in a city much like this one, when the air between them was heavy with unspoken anticipation; she'd been gentle then, nervous as her fingers had brushed over callouses and scar tissue, hesitant lest he swat her away or brush her aside.
but he hadn't, not then and never since, and so kara had grown more comfortable with those casual touches, with letting her hands palm over skin that had seen much harsher greetings. under the surface of the water, her fingertips smooth out, curving over the jagged edges and then over to find the firm edge of his hip, a good place to grab onto in the bobbing waves. )
Somebody should tell the sharks to mind their own business.
( his arms wrap around her, snug across her back and arms, and kara lets her face turn in against his chest as the first of what's sure to be many waves crashes against them. a splutter or two echoes afterwards, water having found its way into her nose and mouth; she's coughing, but there's laughter too. ) Maybe I should have closed my mouth instead...
