EVENT: LIFE'S A BEACH

EVENT: LIFE'S A BEACH

Is it hot in here, cuddlers, or is it just us? No, it's definitely hot — the end of summer is here, and a few miles out from the city, on the beach, the scene is set: if you’ve been able to follow’s Baby’s clues, they led you here.

The dress code is — surprise, surprise — beachwear, but do think of bringing some layers to cover up these beautiful bikinis and all, because the night could get a little chilly if you stray too far from that bonfire. And, of course, if you don’t want to be that exposed, it’s not like the dress code is a mandatory thing, either. (Just don't be surprised if you hear a few disappointed groans from the audience if you come all covered up.)

The first thing that can be seen is a BAR, with a large poster advertising CriminALES at its front. Like any good beach bar, beers and cocktails with tiny little umbrellas in them can be obtained for a small price — or for free, if you're suave enough to impress the bartender on duty. Nearby, SNACK TABLES feature a veritable buffet of edibles, ranging from chips to brownies to crudites and dips (all courtesy of Kimberly and Clary, thank you!). However, if you felt like bringing your own food and alcohol to the party, you won’t be turned away.

Further down the beach, dry wood has been piled up in what looks like an imminent BONFIRE; if you're a little too delicate to rest on the sand, don't worry — there are plenty of bean bags, cushions, and blankets. Feel free to cuddle up to someone familiar, or maybe a new friend, and enjoy the roaring fire once the sun sets.

Beyond the obvious entertainment of the sun, surf, and sand, your party planners have gone to great lengths to ensure everyone is ready to have a great time. Near the bar, inflated beach balls and other toys are strewn around, and the beach's VOLLEYBALL COURT is no stranger to a game or two. As the night goes on, there just might be a few DRINKING GAMES started — "spin the bottle", anyone?

Of course, a party hosted by Baby himself wouldn't be the same without the all-important KILLER TUNES. Nestled directly to the side of the seating area, a makeshift DJ booth flanked by tiki torches serves as the beating heart of the party, and marks the start of a large square expanse of sand, a DIY DANCE FLOOR cordoned off by a large speaker in each of the four corners, all connected by links of colorful bunting.

As promised, the MUSIC will be blasting until the morning, ranging from massive party tunes (no, but seriously) to romantic ballads for those who feel like a slow dance. There are also, strewn around, some serious dancing jams because what’s a party without some exquisitely cheesy songs? Later on, when there is less dancing and more lounging around, quieter, softer classics will be put on as background music. Feel free to MAKE A REQUEST (or ten), or even steal the mic and sing a little song yourself!

Come on down, Cadelle, and give the summer one last hurrah before it goes away. As the unimitable Ella Fitzgerald would say, "it's summertime, and the livin' is easy."

The mod team is so excited to post our first PLAYER-HOSTED EVENT! If your character has the desire to host an event of some kind, be it a party, a grand opening for their business, or something else all together, please don't hesitate to let us know via our EVENT SUGGESTIONS POST!

( This is definitely something Daisy has been looking forward to. SHIELD she loves with all her heart and soul, but it didn't exactly lend itself to vacationing in the Bahamas or enjoying life with attractive cabana boys. A party - and one specifically like this - is long overdue. She has no qualms about her choice of attire either, adding a sarong means she won't scandalise any poor passersby while letting her enjoy the full beach babe experience. It's once in a lifetime and she's going for it.

Daisy spends a little of her time at the bar, sampling the cocktails and flirting up a storm with anyone lingering over the alcohol. It helps her ease into the whole atmosphere more, jokes teasing and light. If anyone looks unsure about the drinks on hand, she'll be the one to lean other and whisper 'avoid pier pressure' like the terrible pun loving monster she is. The dancing she throws herself straight into, undiscerning about her choice of partner. If you've got the moves, you can join her for sure.

Later, when the drinking games begin, she finds a space on the sand to sit cross legged, grin gleeful and wicked. She's definitely happy as a clam. Please, someone stop her.

( If there is one thing to be grateful in life for, it's that Kate's never really lived that far from the beach. Even if that beach is Blackpool. That, and the fact that - for all he's a pain in her neck - Carl can teleport and sometimes, The Agency lets them have a day off which is used on beaches and too much alcohol.

That said, it's been all too long since they even had that, and this party is nothing like their stupid "get drunk and have a shitty disposable barbecue" days off. It's bigger and better, but she still feels a little-

She misses the idiots, okay? Even Carl. Even Faith. Christ, she'd actually enjoy Faith's unrestrained zeal for life and constant positive twists on everything. Which is partly why she's drinking quicker than she needs to, letting herself get swept up in the booze and the atmosphere, rather than the homesickness.
)

This count as getting a drink together?

( She looks up with a grin, tipping her glass in Kate's direction. ) It's close enough. ( Daisy pats the stool beside her, swinging her legs beneath the bar to allow the other girl some more room, draining the rest of her drink and waving over the bartender. )

What'll it be?

( She's actually glad for the company, if she's honest. And since the earthquake incident, she feels like Kate's her type of people. )

( She's not going to say no to a seat, because so far, she's either been drinking or running about, keeping active but - notably - away from the water, still bone dry. )

Beer. Cold.

( She has definitely worked her temperature up, between the games and the sun itself. Something ice cold sounds best. )

That job fair any use for you?

( It actually surprised Kate that it did manage to help her out. Even if retail isn't the most thrilling career in the world, barely even a career, it means extra money and something to do. Something to stop her going stir crazy while she's in the city. )

I slept in.

( It's a little ridiculous how being in a place like this has affected Daisy. She still works out, does her best to keep her body and her skills in top shape, because who knows what's around the corner. But she's definitely become a lot lazier in other aspects of her life. Sleeping round the clock is a luxury she couldn't have afforded back home. )

But I've got some things lined up. How about you? You join the employed masses?

( Kate's beer gets delivered quickly, along with Daisy's second drink and she smiles at their very handsome bartender before returning her focus to the other woman. )

( Even after months in Eudio, it still doesn't feel real to have so much peace and quiet. Kate finds herself looking for anything to keep busy at times, to stop herself going stir crazy. But she gets mornings without the impending pressure of a shift at work, and that in and of itself is going to be hard to let go.

Kate sips her beer before responding:
) That Good Vibrations place. Nothin' too hard.

( Said as casually as you might talk about delivering newspapers. )
