She was small, but quick, and even if she wasn't interested in keeping pace, she would be eager to get out of the rain and dry off a little bit. Usually, she'd be okay with doing that on her own, but surely it couldn't hurt - just this once - to be a little social, to try to begin making connections so she didn't feel quite so isolated.
