( The letter burns a figurative hole in her pocket, stashed on a shelf in the small studio apartment, just waiting to be used. Kate tells herself that she only needs a few days, needs to get affairs in order - tell Good Vibrations they need a new staff member, things like that. Admin stuff, really. After what feels like all too long, she has what she wanted.

Just... a few more days. That's all. She needs to go back to a place where she knows what she's meant to be, what she's meant to do.
And then the rains come. Cold and shimmering and so, so strange. They loosen her tongue at work, to customers and manager alike, but they're ultimately harmless as long as conversation remains light.
