It has it's pluses. It's pretty useful way to meet people quick. And a party like this has it's own icebreakers -- [ Would he know what that meant? ] Ways to break through that awkwardness of talking to a new person.

[ But Jax wondered if this guy got any of that. Awkwardness. He seemed pretty straightforward. However, that was just a first impression.

Jax nodded slowly, his smile of understanding spread just the same. ] Sounds about right. And you never know, they just might. They could be saving the harder stuff for later.
