[It's more like it can cause a lot of overstimulation for her, because she doesn't know where to direct her ears. Superhearing can make too much noise overwhelming and she spent too much of her life in the quiet of the preserve, where too much noise meant danger for her to turn those instincts off so easily.]

If I'm listening to music all the time, I can't hear when the danger's coming. And music is a noise, even if not all noise is music.

[Correlations are important. It may be a more pleasant noise, but it's still distracting and stimulating when most of the time she doesn't want to be that alert.]
